Rockford - Atari ST [040] Short PlayThru

Rockford is a port of an arcade game by the same name, which was a port of the Atari 8-bit original title Boulder Dash.  The original arcade game ran on modified Amiga hardware, and I believe it is presently lost, or undumped.

First, I am a huge fan of Boulder Dash.  This Atari classic is a fantastic game, and quite well executed on the Atari 800 I played it on, along with its sequel.  Rockford?  Did not impress me at all.

My problems?  The graphics seem uninspired.  The screen scrolling is horrible, and jarring, and has a tragic effect on gameplay.  The designers seemed to spend more time on creating 4 different types of play, with the themes, versus making a quality reimagining of a top tier title.

Want a quality reimagining of Boulder Dash on the ST?  Check out the presently developing Roc'hell by Dune (https://github.com/dune-demogroup/roc-hell).

I would definitely pass on Rockford though.
