Moon Patrol - Atari ST [041] Short PlayThru

Here is another Williams title that was ported to the ST; this time is it Moon Patrol.  This title was originally created by Irem of R-Type fame, and was licensed for US distribution by Williams as opposed to some of the other Williams titles to appear on the ST.

Moon Patrol is a fairly simple version of a side scroller.  The player controls a moon rover and must avoid obstacles and eliminate enemies.  The rover can shoot a missile forward and a bullet upward.  The forward shot takes a longer time to reload than the upwards shot.  Besides taking those actions, the player can also make the rover jump.

Controls on the ST work well, and the game seems well done.  I was unhappy about the vehicle's 'hit box' when jumping some of the ditches, but that could just be me.  Another quality porting effort released by Atari Inc.

I would say this port is definitely worth a look!

Capture info -

This video was captured on December 24, 2019.

Game was played on an Atari 1040 STf, TOS 1.4, 1MB, equipped with a CosmosEX from Jookie.
A Best Electronics ST Monitor to VGA cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.
