Joust, the Williams arcade classic, was originally released on July 16, 1982. This game was ported to the Atari ST and released by Atari Inc. themselves!
I would say that this port captures almost everything from the arcade version. The sound, the graphics, and the gameplay itself are all there. While this is a relatively simple game, I would still say that Joust is a great game. And like many other titles of the time, I do not believe Joust has an ending.
My first ST exposure to Joust was on a PD (Public Domain) disk from Current Notes/WAACE, but I am pretty sure it should not have been there. Before that, we played Joust from the cartridge made for the Atari 8-bit. I, and my mom, spent many hours playing Joust on the Atari 800.
These days I have an unrestored Joust cocktail cabinet in my possession, and restoring it is on my very long to-do list. Want to talk about somthing that is a difficult item to find, try finding a pair of Joust cocktail joysticks. It took a LONG time, but I finally tracked down a pair.
Anyway, Joust for the Atari ST is definitely a title to check out for a quick enjoyable game to play.
