Merry SFXMAS And A Happy 2019 by SMFX - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [31/25]

And on the 31st day of the 25ish days of Christmas we have a demo from 2018 from SMFX.  This demo has a nice scene; snow is falling, filling the screen, as a repetitive tune accompanies the snow in the background.

DemoZoo Entry - https://demozoo.org/productions/201490/
Fujiology Download - ftp://fujiology.untergrund.net/users/ltk_tscc/fujiology/ST/S/SMFX/SFXMAS.ZIP

And with that, this is the last Youtube posting for the year!

Capture info -

This video was captured on October 23, 2019.

The demo was played on an Atari 1040 STf, TOS 1.4, 1MB, equipped with a CosmosEX from Jookie.
A Best Electronics ST Monitor to VGA cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.

Video was edited with Shotcut.

Merry Christmas by Demografica - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [30/25]

Jumping forward to 2015, here is a simple release from Demografica to celebrate the holidays.  A static picture of Santa probably smoking, with a medley of Christmas songs playing to go along with the theme.

X-Mas 2011 by Torment - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [29/25]

We now jump to 2011. There was a seven year gap in releases I could locate for the plain ST. This time we have a nice intro from Torment.  A simple and effective screen with a pic of Santa and snow slowly piling up until it gets to a certain point, with a little jingle playing in the background.

XMas 2006 by Paradize - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [28/25]

It's the Snowman's music!!!!  This demo, by Paradize, features a chip redo of Walking on the Air, created by Marcer.  This is a nice cover, I would say.  A nice collection of scenes: first with a newspaper article, than a scroller over the winter landscape, followed by graphical effects, a greetings screen, and a closing Merry Christmas greeting to the viewer, all in just about 3 and a half minutes.

Xmas 2004 Intro by Satantronic - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [27/25]

Now we are entering into the year 2004, with a quick intro by Satantronic, made by Jookie!  A nice tune (a rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town) accompanies the nicely done line art, with large snowflakes as effects failing in the picture.

15k Christmas Intro by MJJ Prod - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [26/25]

Here is another entry from the 2003 15k DHS xmas compo, with a mummified head wearing a santa hat. and a text scroller that scrolls upward instead of sideways.

Atari ST Compacted Disk (CD) Scrollers [377] Retro PlayThrus CD #012 - 25ish Days of XMas BONUS

Merry Christmas!  Here is a capture of the fourth Retro PlayThrus CD release for this month, CD #012, and the last one for this year!

Retro PlayThrus C.I.D. Compacted Disk #012 Release!

The final release for this month, Retro PlayThrus C.I.D. Compacted Disk #012, 2 New Year's demos made their way on here, otherwise, its all Christmas!

Quadchip by Dead Hackers Society and Ephidrena and MJJ Prod - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [25/25]

Here is another entry from the DHS xmas compo in 2003.  This one is a nice piece of art, with snow falling, and four tunes, including a nice rendition of a Coldplay song!

Snowman Demo by Falcon - Amiga OCS/ECS Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 9!

So here is a port of The Snowman demo to another system, the Atari Lorraine, err, I mean the Commodore Amiga!  And this is the last post of the eve.

The Snowman by Irwin and Tebe - Atari 800/XL/XE Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 8!

Here is a port of The Snowman Demo to the Atari 8-bit computers by Irwin and Tebe released in November of 2009.

The Snowman Demo (520 KB version) by Sundox - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 7!

Here is the 520 KB (really should be 512k) version of The Snowman demo.

Snowman Atari ST Demo MEGA 4 Version Comparison [4K] - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 6!

Here is my first 4k video, and first comparison video.  I have a few comparison videos at various stages of completion, but I was never happy with the progress.

Atari ST Compacted Disk (CD) Scrollers [376] Retro PlayThrus CD #011 - 25ish Days of XMas BONUS

Here is a capture of Retro PlayThrus CD #011, publicly released just a few hours ago.  And keeping with the Scottish Terrier theme of the previous two releases, we are greeted once again by a Scottie with a red nose leading a sleigh of 5 puppies in another old Christmas card adaption.

The Snowman 2009 by Checkpoint - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 4!

It is unfair to compare this demo to the original, in my opinion.  This demo was made as a celebration of the original.  It was made in 2009, 22 years after the original.

The Snowman by Persistence Of Vision - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 3!

Here is Persistence Of Vision's improvement of The Snowman demo, and unlike the previously posted 'recoded' version, it is immediately noticeable what has changed.

The Snowman Recoded by D'vid - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 2!

Here is The Snowman Recoded by D'vid, which was released in 1990.  I honestly do not see much real improvement in this release over the original 1987 release.  The source code for the executable is included on the disk, so it could be analyzed to see the improvements.

The Snowman by Modnoc - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Eve BONUS 1!

"We're walking in the air .... We're floating in the moonlit sky .... The people far below are sleeping as we fly ...."

Retro PlayThrus C.I.D. Compacted Disk #011 Release!

Presenting Retro PlayThrus C.I.D. Compacted Disk #011, the third Christmas themed disk released this month!

2 Days Of Love And Happiness by Evolution and KÜA Software Productions and MJJ Prod - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [24/25]

The Chimney by Thoty - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [23/25]

Here is another entry from DHS 15kbyte music-demo xmas compo 2003.  Of note, this entry is from Thomas Huth from the Hatari team!

Yescrew 15k Xmas Intro by MJJ Prod and YesCREW - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [22/25]

I did not locate any demos from 2002, but 2003 was a much different story, mostly because of the DHS 15kbyte music-demo xmas compo 2003. Some of those entries will be presented over the next few days.

X-Mas 2001 by Satantronic - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [21/25]

We've made it to 2001! Unfortunately, there was no manned voyage to Jupiter, but on the plus side, there was no HAL either!  Here we have a release from Satantronic.

DemoZoo Entry - https://demozoo.org/productions/75156/

Fujiology Download - ftp://fujiology.untergrund.net/users/ltk_tscc/fujiology/ST/S/SATANTRN/XMAS2K1.ZIP

This might be a Satantronic group release, but Jookie, of CosmosEX fame, did the majority of the work here.  This production consists of an image on one side of the screen with a text block on the other, acting as a menu, where you can choose to read a piece written from each member of the group!

Atari ST Compacted Disk (CD) Scrollers [375] Retro PlayThrus #010 - 25ish Days of XMas BONUS

Here is the second Christmas disk release to be captured: Retro PlayThrus CD #010!

Xmas 2000 Intro by Paranoia / Lunatic Asylum - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [20/25]

It seems everyone survived Y2K, and the Atari ST itself did not implode, much like the majority of computing devices.  I guess we could say the apocalypse was cancelled.  Anyway, Paranoia and Lunatic Asylum brought ST users a Christmas demo for the year 2000, for their second entry on my 25-ish days of Christmas demos!

Crimbo (BUGGED!) by Torment - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - BONUS

Since I captured it, I figured I might as well share it as a bonus.  A few times I have been asked about issues I have with capturing from my 1040 ST.  Well, here is the Crimbo demo where the snow falls and builds up over the snowman, except the snow has completely fallen and filled in all of the background (it doesn't actually do that).

Crimbo by Torment - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [19/25]

Here is the fourth, and final, entry from the DHS X-Mas Compo 1999.  This screen in from Torment.

X-Mass by Paranoia / Lunatic Asylum - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [15/25]

What does milk, Pupsi, Windows 95, and a razor blade have in common? They are all parts of the X-Mass demo from 1998.  I was unable to find releases to use for 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997!  Lost to time, or was nothing released?

Christmas Moon by Rough Art Inc - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [12/25]

Oh, if only I had decided on the 12 days of Christmas, with the lords leaping in celebration of the joyous day, children ripping open the presents, and many a parent wondering how they will ever pay off their credit cards.  Alas, I decided 25 days was a wise choice.  At least tomorrow is crossing the hump, approaching the 25 day finish line!

X-MAS 1989 - Atari ST Demo MIDI Version - Roland MT-32 - 25ish Days of Christmas - BONUS

Another bonus!  More MIDI!  Again, a few songs sound pretty bad due to the selection of instruments being played on the MT32.  Most of the songs sounded OK, but I think there are a couple of stinkers.

X-MAS 1989 by ACE St. Louis Midi SIG - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [06/25]

ACE St. Louis Midi SIG released another Christmas slide show in 1989, very similar to the one from 1987!  This was their third year in a row to release a Christmas demo!

Merry Christmas by Unknown - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [05/25]

Another day, and another Christmas demo!  Also, just like yesterday, it is unknown who made this little demo, or when it was released.

Happy Holidays by Unknown - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [04/25]

Another day, and here is another simple demo, which is actually the simplest I have posted so far.  I am unsure when it was released, but I would guess around 1988 or so.

The XMAS '88 Demo by Kenrick Productions - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [03/25]

Here is today's presentation for the 25ish days of Christmas, another nice early demo on the Atari ST. This time the demo is not a slideshow.  Here is a nice little animated 'Christmas Card' released in 1988 from Kenrick Productions.

X-MAS 1987 - Atari ST Demo MIDI Version - Roland MT-32 - 25ish Days of Christmas - BONUS

Bonus...  2 days in a row?  Well, right now, yes, but not tomorrow.  So here is today's demo released with MIDI sound recorded.

Retro PlayThrus C.I.D. Compacted Disk #009 Release!

Here is Retro PlayThrus Compacted Disk #009 -  a Christmas disk!  The first of a few to be released this month.

X-MAS 1987 by ACE St. Louis Midi SIG - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [02/25]

Unfortunately I believe bit rot became a factor, as I found nothing released in 1986, so here is X-MAS 1987 by Atari Computer Enthusiest - St. Louis Midi SIG (Special Interest Group).
