Antic X-mas 1985 Demo by Audio Light Inc - Atari ST Demo - The 25ish Days of Christmas - Day [01/25]

Welcome to Day 1 of the 25ish days of Christmas!  And today we have a 'classic' demo.  Classic in the sense that this is an Antic release from 1985!  By Christmastime in  1985, the ST had only been on the market for just over 6 months since the system release in June.

For those who might not know the Antic name, Antic was a computer magazine for the Atari 8-bit series of computers, which also covered the Atari ST after its release before being split off into the magazine STart.  Antic was published from April 1982 up to June 1990, with a total of 88 issues.  More useless trivia: ANTIC is short for Alphanumeric Television Interface Controller, which is the display chip of the Atari 8-bit series, and the Atari 5200.  The chip was patented by Atari in 1981, and development of the chip was overseen by Jay Miner, the father of the Amiga!

Enough of the history lesson, it's time to go back to discussing the demo.  The presentation shown here was put together by Audio Light Inc, most likely to showcase their capabilities at the time.  Credit for the graphics is given to Peter Wickman, but no credit is given for the music.  I believe the music was made using Activision's Music Studio, since the files on disk are .sng files.

Music works well, and the graphics are decent, especially for such an early presentation!  As with almost every demo presented this month, I had never seen this demo before.

Capture info -

This video was captured on October 20, 2019.

The demo was played on an Atari 1040 STf, TOS 1.4, 1MB, equipped with a CosmosEX from Jookie.
A Best Electronics ST Monitor to VGA cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.

Video was edited with Shotcut.
