Aero Fighters 3 - SNK Neo Geo [007] PlayThru

I never got very far making a past review for this game, so, here is a quick one!  First, let's give the vitals of this arcade exclusive Neo Geo release.

Aero Fighters 3 is another semi-crazy overhead shooter for the Neo Geo, but it is only crazy in the player selection, not so much in the actual stage enemies.  The roster this time has a solid 10 choices for players to select from.  This game is a follow up to the previous Neo Geo exclusive Aero Fighters 2.

The game length seems to have been reduced, with the previous release having 10 stages, while this release has eight stages. 

While the usual elements for a shooter are present, the gameplay starts to have a very repetitive feeling after about 10 minutes into the game.  Now, that might be enough for a quarter in the arcade, but the lack of depth starts to harm the home market appeal of this game, in my opinion.

The graphics are nice. The music works with the game, and the sound is decent.  Game performance on the Neo Geo is pretty good. I do not recall seeing a ton of lag from the system when there is too much going on on the screen with enemy sprites.

My thoughts?  If you love shooters, grab it, otherwise, this title is a pass.  It also might be a little expensive in home cart form since it only has a Japanese release, so it might be best to opt for an MVS cart.
