Aero Fighters 2 - SNK Neo Geo [006] PlayThru

I never got very far making a past review for this game, so, time to make a quick one!

NOTE: A trainer was used for making this capture.

First, lets give the vitals of this arcade exclusive Neo Geo release -

US Title:       Aero Fighters 2
Japanese Title:       Sonic Wings 2
By:                        Video System
Size:                      102 Megs
Home Release? 08/26/1994
MVS Release? 07/18/1994
CD Release?    09/29/1994

Aero Fighters 2 is the sequel to the original Aero Fighters, released on custom arcade hardware in 1992, and later ported to the SNES.  Other than the creation of a Neo Geo CD compatible version of the game, this title was not ported to any other system until it was sold in emulated packs for the modern systems in 2017.

Aero Fighter 2 is a vertical shooter, with a similar theme to Capcom's UN Squadron/Area 88.  Controls consist mainly of shooting guns with one button, and launching a limited number of bombs with the other.  Weapons can be powered up four times, and powerups are quite numerous.

Difficulty of the game definitely depends upon the user's choice on the home system.  Normal is relatively easy.  The game is 10 stages long.  Graphics are OK, but there is not a whole lot of color on most stages.  The music works, but is pretty forgetable.  Control works good.  Slowdown does sometime become an issue while playing when the screen gets too busy.

If you are a big shooter fan, this game is probably a good pickup for the Neo Geo, or emulated; otherwise, it is just a mediocre title.

Capture Info:

This gameplay was captured on April 14, 2019.

Game was played on a modded SNK Neo Geo home console, equipped with the UniBIOS.
A HD Retrovision Component cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.

Video was edited with Shotcut.
