Double Dragon - Sega Genesis [003] PlayThru

Ah, another Double Dragon, a game I did not know was released on the Genesis (I already had it on the Master System, and the ST at the time, most likely).  Oddly enough, this cartridge is similar to the original Electronic Arts cartridges released on the Genesis, but larger in size.

NOTE: A trainer was used for making this capture.

This title is also not licensed by Sega, which most likely explains the cartridge difference.  I believe the card board box should have given that away as well.  The game was released by Accolade, which had a decent release record in the computing world at the time.  And the games oddest quirk?

It does not work with the Sega CD attached!  What the hell?!?!?  I was surprised.  I thought the cartridge was bad, but I did go to Google first to see what is up.  I was surprised to learn that besides this title, Shadow of the Beast also is affected by this problem.  So, I disconnected my non-working launch Sega CD, and it worked!

I must say, playing through this game, I did not feel like I really missed anything not having picked it up when it was released.  The game seems like an OK effect, but I feel that much more could have been done.

Controls are decent, but I prefer the Master Systems music.  My biggest complaint?  What happened to the ending?

Overall, I think this game is a pass, not worth the time. Other ports are better.  Now I just need to play the arcade version to assemble a comparison video of the SMS/Atari ST/Genesis/Arcade!

Capture info -

This gameplay was captured on January 29, 2019.

Game was played on a Sega Genesis Model 1.
A HD Retrovision Component cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.

Video was edited with Shotcut.
