Star Wars - Atari ST [045] PlayThru

A long time ago in an arcade far, far away, well... only 37 years ago in 1983, and it would have been a local arcade; but anyway, the 70's smash Sci Fi movie had its arcade video game debut as a vector graphics machine from Atari Games.

There had already been a release to the Atari 2600, with The Empire Strikes Back in 1982.  There was even a pinball machine based on the same movie that was released in 1980 in Australia.  But none of this relates to the video presented above...

The Atari ST port of the arcade original appears to be decent.  The music included works, the graphics are decent, and controls are good.  It is odd that the controls are with the mouse, but they work well.  I do not believe anything from the arcade is missing here. The big difference is the display type, which is raster versus vector, and the controls, which are mouse versus yoke.

Star Wars was also made as a cartridge for the Atari 8-bit.  I will need to play that and see how it stacks up. Tt has been many years since I plugged that cart into the Atari 800!

Capture info -

This video was captured on January 12, 2020.

Game was played on an Atari 1040 STf, TOS 1.4, 1MB, equipped with a CosmosEX from Jookie.
A Best Electronics ST Monitor to VGA cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.

Video was edited with Shotcut.
