Here is another Chess game for the Atari ST; this game is Psion Chess. And since I still suck at chess, I used an online site to calculate moves against the computer. Otherwise the game would have been lost fast!
This chess game was commercial, but now is freeware. The interface is pretty simple. It appears the developers mainly focused on getting the gamplay down.
For those in the 'know', the ST version achieved a 1960 Elo rating. This rating is higher than the Mac version, which only achieved a 1793.
I hope to potentially do a chess 'versus' series once I have collected a few more titles from the various platforms. It would be interesting to see how the different games hold up against each other, jumping from 8-bit to 16-bit CPUs and between the different programmers.
