Astro Warrior - Sega Master System [017] PlayThru

Here we have what was, at least in the US, a pack in game with the early Sega Master Systems, along with Hang On, which did not include the light phaser.  Otherwise, Astro Warrior was released as a single game for purchase in the US.

NOTE: A trainer was used for making this capture.

The game is a vertical shooter, neverending, and very short before it cycles around again.  Nice for a pack in game, but not really too good for a stand alone purchase.

I would say that the game length would need to be tripled, at a minimum, to make the game worth a single unit purchase.

The music and effects are decent.  Art is OK, especially for such an early game.  Gameplay is sort of slow.  Power Ups always drop in the center of the screen; randomization of this would have been a decent improvement.

An OK game, but not really worth going out of the way to obtain if you have not already picked it up.

Capture info -

This gameplay was captured on December 12, 2018.

Game was played on a Sega Genesis Model 1.
A HD Retrovision Component cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.

Video was edited with Shotcut.
