Battle Chess - Atari ST [023] PlayThru

Title Screen

Battle Chess, an exciting implementation of classic chess, yours to bring home on the ST...  Or maybe not.

With a name such as Battle Chess, one would think that some additional element might have been added to the game by Interplay.  Not really, the gimmick here is that there is a semi-comical fight when a capture move is made.  Beyond that, this is just another computer chess game.

Gameplay
The chess board is presented in a semi 3D view, with nicely drawn red and blue pieces.  Pieces are animated well, although they move slowly, and the loading of the animation from floppy really slows the game down.  All sounds are digitized.  Overall, my biggest complain is how slow the game runs.

I think this is more or less play it once, and then shelf the game forever title.  And, if it matters, I got help to beat the CPU; I always was bad at chess.

Capture info -

This gameplay was captured on June 11, 2018.
Game was played on an Atari 1040 STf, TOS 1.4, 1MB, equipped with a CosmosEX from Jookie.
A Best Electronics ST Monitor to VGA cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.
