Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone - Atari ST [018] PlayThru

Title Screen
NOTE: A trainer was used for making this capture.

The third entry into the Double Dragon series, and from what I remember of the arcade, probably the worst out of the three up to that point.

Gameplay
Sound effects are decent, and there was actual music, and not samples; too bad the music was only used at the shop, the ending, and the game's title screen.

Gameplay
The graphics here are really nice, good mix of color and detail, and a decent use of the restricted pallete of the ST.  I could go as far to even say the ST out classes the arcade graphics in some regards.

Control is good, really responsive with no sluggishness at all.  Of course, the one button joystick is still a bit of a problem.  This is just a two player game, versus the three players that the arcade supported.  Not really a loss in my opinion.

Box Cover
Now for the complaint...  I hated the shop in the arcade; it's a cash grab.  The shop appears here in the home version, but why?  Seems to be a very early entry into the 'Pay To Win' type gameplay...

Magazine Ad
A decent beat'em up effort on the ST.  If you are a fan of the genre, check it out.  I would say checking out the game otherwise is a coin flip; it is OK, and looks great.  If there was music during the gameplay, I would tilt towards saying definitely worth a play through.

The tune heard at the beginning is from the arcade release.

Capture info -

This gameplay was captured on May 23, 2018.

Game was played on an Atari 1040 STf, TOS 1.4, 1MB, equipped with a CosmosEX from Jookie.
A Best Electronics ST Monitor to VGA cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.
