Space Ace - Atari ST [012] PlayThru AutoPlay

Think of this capture as a movie, it (and the other five ReadySoft titles) were all run from a hard disk installation to avoid the disk swapping nightmare on the ST for these titles.

Title Screen
The Atari ST adaption of Space Ace is by no means complete.  While I have gone through the sequel game, Space Ace II - Borf's Revenge, I am unsure if putting them together comes closer to the arcade similar to the Dragon's Lair series of games.

Gameplay
While I never played Space Ace in the arcade, I played it much later on the ST release. I definitely remember when the game was released. I think I only ever ran into Space Ace in Chuckie Cheese, back when their stores were much grander affairs.  I never touched it as the few times I was in a Chuckie Cheese, it was always with groups, and usually we were into the other activities.

Gameplay
I actually remember Space Ace more from the short-lived cartoon being part of Saturday Supercade on CBS.

Magazine Ad
As I previously mentioned with Dragon's Lair, I have never really been a fan of this type of a game. While the art is well done, and the ST effort is decent, the game is way too short, and was definitely a drag with the floppy loading and disk swapping.  Perfect gameplay takes about six minutes from a hard disk, but it takes probably closer to 12 to 15 minutes if playing from floppies.

Nice to check out, but a more modern release would be highly advised if interested in Space Ace at all.

Capture info -

This gameplay was captured on March 25, 2018.

Game was played on an Atari 1040 STf, TOS 1.4, 1MB, equipped with a CosmosEX from Jookie.
A Best Electronics ST Monitor to VGA cable was used, connected to an OSSC 1.6 (processing the video in Line4x mode), with the output being captured by a Startech USB3HDCAP.
